Council appoints Laura Kaino to vacant seat
Goodyear, Ariz. (June 26, 2018) During its June 25 regular meeting, the Goodyear City Council appointed Laura Kaino to fill the council seat vacated by Joanne Osborne.
“Laura has invested a great deal of time with the city of Goodyear. Her experience and knowledge has prepared her for the position on Council and I expect the transition to be seamless,” said Mayor Georgia Lord.
Kaino’s resume includes volunteering on several city committees, including the Arts & Culture Commission, Water Conservation Committee, and Faith & Community Roundtable.
“I am excited about the direction that Goodyear has been going, and working with a diverse and cohesive Council who is committed to doing the best for the city,” said Kaino.
Osborne, who resigned on May 23 to run for a state representative seat, spoke at the meeting, thanking the applicants for their interest in stepping into the post.
Kaino will be sworn in on July 2, and will hold the seat until the next city election in 2019.
