Goodyear residents sworn in as commissioners, board members
Goodyear, Ariz. (July 10, 2018) – The Goodyear City Council Chamber was full as residents raised their hands to take an oath of office to serve on the city’s boards and commissions.
Ten were for the Youth Commission alone.
After the ceremony, Vice Mayor Campbell expressed her gratitude to the young volunteers. “Thank you for your willingness to step up and be a part of our community. We expect great things from you!”
Other residents joined the Industrial Development Authority, Public Improvement Corporation, or Self-Insured Healthcare Trust Board. In all, 16 individuals were sworn in.
From researching topics to sharing their expertise in a variety of industries, their input is used to shape the city and its services.
The terms range from two to six years, depending on the appointment.
“We are so grateful to these individuals who give so much of their time to help us make informed decisions,” said Mayor Georgia Lord. “A growing city like ours needs the engagement of the community to help guide us into the right direction.”
Boards and commissions are formed as advisory groups to the City Council. Members of these groups are all volunteers and appointed by the City Council.
