Gorbel® Inc., a Victor, NY based manufacturer of material handling and fall protection equipment, celebrated its newest facility in Goodyear, AZ with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 24. This location marks Gorbel’s fourth manufacturing facility, with other operations in New York, Alabama, and China, plus a sales office in Michigan. The facility will add more than 20 projected jobs and will increase their presence in the western region of the United States allowing them to better serve the customers in those states.

David Reh, a Clarkson graduate with over a decade of experience selling material handling equipment, founded Gorbel in 1977. In 1990, Gorbel outgrew their small Fairport location and moved to their current location in Victor, NY, outside Rochester. Brian Reh, David Reh’s son, took over the company as President in 2004, and President and CEO in 2010.

Gorbel evaluated Utah and Nevada, but ultimately selected Arizona for their expansion due to the location’s ability to meet their logistical needs and customer demand, lower cost of doing business, and availability of talent.

“The addition of Gorbel to our region speaks to the strong leadership in the City of Goodyear and the region’s ability to connect, collaborate and build our economy together,” says Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

In 2015, Gorbel expanded into the medical arena with the launch SafeGait 360 Balance and Mobility Trainer.  This advancement uses the company’s G-Force® Intelligent Lifting Technology to help patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injuries, amputations, or traumatic brain injuries learn to walk again in a way that decreases the risk of injury to both the patients and their therapists.

Greater Phoenix businesses supported the expansion of Gorbel to the region. Representing the tenant was John Werstler from CBRE and representing the landlord was Brian Gleason with Colliers.

“I want to thank Gorbel for choosing FLITE for its newest location. Gorbel’s national and international presence in the industrial sector is a great addition to the Phoenix/Goodyear Airport area that will help revitalize this employment center. It now joins a list of many other successful companies in the region,” said Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord. “Anytime we can bring jobs to the city, it benefits our entire community.”
