Technology surge brings Stream Data Centers to Goodyear, Arizona
GOODYEAR, AZ, February 15, 2019 – Stream Data Centers, an industry leader in providing premium data center solutions, announced today that it has acquired a 418,000-square-foot facility on 157 acres of land in Goodyear, Arizona, where it will establish a data center campus for hyperscale and enterprise customers in the Greater Phoenix region. Initially, Stream will redevelop the existing facility, which at full build-out will contain approximately 50 MW of critical load and will be fully operational for customers in the first quarter of 2020.
“Stream Data Centers’ confidence and investment into the Goodyear market will provide high-end jobs and innovative cloud-based technology solutions for years to come,” said Mayor Georgia Lord. “We are very excited to welcome another best-in-class company to our rapidly expanding cluster of high tech businesses. We are thankful for their commitment to Goodyear and foresee a bright future ahead.”
This acquisition marks the company’s entrance into the Phoenix market and will enable it to scale with the needs of the area’s growing number of cloud providers and enterprise users. At full build, the entire campus can support approximately 2 million square feet. Stream will dedicate land for an onsite substation to be constructed by Arizona Public Service (APS) with ultimate power capacity of 350 MW.
“The Phoenix market has quickly emerged as one of the top destinations in the Western US for enterprise and cloud companies,” notes Robert Kennedy, co-managing partner of Stream Data Centers. “A pro business environment with a great sales tax incentive program, low risk of natural disaster and low latency to major markets on the West Coast, Midwest and Texas have fueled tremendous growth for this market.”
“The city of Goodyear’s experienced team of professionals assisted us with streamlining the approval process, allowing swift entry to the market. We look forward to establishing a major data center campus and long-term relationships with the city of Goodyear, APS and the Greater Phoenix business community.”
“Arizona is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for high-tech companies, and this announcement is another great example of how economic development partnerships help our communities thrive,” said Jeff Guldner, president of APS. “When we’re able to partner with businesses and local leaders to meet their energy needs, everyone wins.”
