The city of Goodyear has been honored with two national awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its innovative approach to economic development and downtown creation.

Goodyear received a 2025 Excellence in Economic Development Silver Award for its Paid Advertising Campaign, which promoted both GSQ and the city’s broader Economic Development business recruitment brand, “You’re in Good Company.” Additionally, GSQ, the city’s new 200-acre mixed-use downtown corridor, was honored with a Bronze Award for Neighborhood Development.

 “These awards reflect the creativity, teamwork, and long-term vision driving Goodyear’s economic development,” said Wendy Bridges, Goodyear Economic Development Director. “Goodyear and GSQ have become a destination where visitors, businesses, and residents come together and enjoy the growing amenities the city has to offer.”

The dual-strategy marketing effort spotlighted the city’s Economic Development brand alongside the emerging downtown core. The “You’re in Good Company” campaign highlights how Goodyear’s workforce and businesses benefit from a growing, connected, and supportive community. Complementing this effort, the GSQ-focused campaign showcased the new downtown as an innovative mixed-use lifestyle destination for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

GSQ is Goodyear’s first true downtown, created through the city's visionary public-private partnership.  Anchored by Goodyear City Hall, the Georgia T. Lord Library, and Civic Square Park, GSQ has driven more than $150 million in private investment, generated hundreds of jobs, and attracted restaurants, retail, medical, as well as the area’s first-class A office space and parking garages.

The city also recognized the important role of its partners, including Globe Corporation and RED Development, in shaping the future of GSQ. Their collaboration and investment are instrumental in bringing the vision of a dynamic downtown to life; creating a place that will serve residents, businesses, and visitors for generations to come.

The IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s top projects and initiatives that strengthen communities and foster economic growth.
