Goodyear selects new economic development director
Goodyear, Ariz. (Sept. 5, 2018) – The city of Goodyear has hired Lori Gary as director of the Economic Development Department. She begins on Sept. 25.
“Lori brings to us a wealth of experience, a solid reputation within the economic development community, a high-energy personality and a sincere enthusiasm for the Goodyear of today and the future,” said Goodyear City Manager Julie Arendall.
Prior to accepting the post in Goodyear, Lori was a senior project manager for the city of Mesa’s Office of Economic Development. Specifically, she promoted new investment, redevelopment and reuse, and job creation within Mesa’s Fiesta District, Falcon District, and West Mesa.
“I’m excited to join the Goodyear team and utilize my skills to strengthen the city’s assets and economic base,” said Lori. “I’ll continue to focus on the Council’s priorities - retail, entertainment, job creation, and small business retention.”
In June, a nationwide search to fill the vacant post netted 60 applicants. After interviewing four finalists, city officials offered the position to Lori, who has more than 25 years of economic development experience and credentialed as a Certified Economic Developers (CEcD) with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
Lori and her husband Steve Bryant have lived in the West Valley for 12 years.
